The principals of Peak Client Group started working together more than 14 years ago to develop the Pacific Bell Proposal Centers. These Proposal Centers ended up becoming part of the AT&T family and were considered “Best in Class” throughout the company’s merger years. We are a company with an international presence with consultants throughout North America ready to support sales teams and account managers nationwide.

Peak Client Group is led by an experienced management team with over 50 combined years of experience delivering winning proposals. These veterans of business development and sales and marketing offer a clear vision of Peak’s future. This team shares in our mission of providing clients with dedicated, skill-based resources to develop professionally written and designed materials that differentiate them in the marketplace and pay off with increased business.

Meet the Team

Scott Whelchel, President/CEO

Scott Whelchel founded Peak Client Group upon his retirement from AT&T after many years of service. Scott held leadership roles in the sales, marketing, and business development divisions at AT&T. Scott has a MBA in Business Administration and extensive experience managing people and projects for Fortune 50 companies. While at AT&T, Scott managed a group of 700 employees and generated $5 billion in sales in his last year with the company. His expertise is in budgeting, strategic thinking, cross-functional training, process management, team building and management, and start-up development. He is a committed professional, entrepreneurial, and highly organized. Scott is also trustworthy, good at building goodwill and team work, diplomatic, and has a reputation for being resourceful in handling emergencies and tight deadlines. He brings all of these qualities to bear as Peak’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

Scott formed Peak Client Group to provide professional writing and editing consulting services to large and small businesses, commercial and government organizations, and individuals that need timely assistance creating and reviewing documentation, developing new business, marketing to their customers, or building and maintaining a team of professional communication specialists.

Jim Pottorf, Vice President, Senior Proposal Manager

Jim Pottorf has 30 years of professional management and writing experience with AT&T and related companies, including more than 10 years success in developing and managing proposals and other sales materials. At AT&T, he specialized in organizing, directing, producing and delivering large, complex proposal responses for government clients and the education market. He has managed successful bids for as little as $15,000 and as much as $865 million, as well as country privatization bids. He is a Veteran of the U.S. Army and is in charge of Peak’s corporate marketing initiatives.

Jerry Shearer, Vice President, Senior Proposal Manager

Jerry Shearer has 12 years of business development, marketing, professional writing, and corporate training experience for companies in the telecommunications, IT, and construction industries. He specializes in writing and editing proposals, managing both small and large proposal teams, producing sales and marketing documents, and creating and delivering corporate sales training. Much of Jerry’s experience has been focused on Federal Government clients and contractors. He has held a DoD and NATO Secret-level security clearance. Jerry maintains relationships with government contracting officers and large systems integrators and is responsible for Peak’s business development efforts and daily operations.
